Duas for Umrah
Every supplication from ihram to the final haircut, in Arabic with transliteration, meaning and source. Where no fixed wording exists, pray in your own words and language.
Ihram
Labbayk Allāhumma labbayk, labbayka lā sharīka laka labbayk. Innal-ḥamda wan-ni'mata laka wal-mulk, lā sharīka lak.
Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Surely all praise, favour and sovereignty belong to You. You have no partner.
After making the intention for Umrah, and often until you begin Tawaf. Men say it aloud, women quietly.
Sahih al-Bukhari 1549; Sahih Muslim 1184
Labbayka ʿumrah.
Here I am, [O Allah], for Umrah.
At the miqat, in the heart. Saying it aloud in these words is the common practice.
Sahih Muslim 1232
“O Allah, make this ihram easy for me and protect me from anything that breaks it.”
A personal supplication; say it in any language.
Arriving at the Haram
Bismillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu 'alā Rasūlillāh. Allāhummaftaḥ lī abwāba raḥmatik.
In the name of Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.
Step in with the right foot, at Masjid al-Haram or any mosque.
Sahih Muslim 713; Sunan Ibn Majah 771
“O Allah, this is Your sanctuary and Your security, so make me safe from the Fire and from Your punishment on the Day You resurrect Your servants, and make me one of Your friends and those who obey You.”
As you reach the sacred city.
Allāhumma zid hādhal-bayta tashrīfan wa ta'ẓīman wa takrīman wa mahābah, wa zid man sharrafahu wa karramahu mimman ḥajjahu awi'tamarahu tashrīfan wa takrīman wa ta'ẓīman wa birrā.
O Allah, increase this House in honour, esteem, dignity and awe, and increase those who honour and revere it, of those who perform Hajj or Umrah, in honour, dignity, esteem and righteousness.
Raise your hands and ask Allah for anything. This wording is reported from the early generations.
Reported by al-Shafiʿi in al-Umm and al-Bayhaqi; its chain is considered weak
Tawaf
Bismillāhi, wallāhu akbar.
In the name of Allah, and Allah is the Greatest.
At the start of each circuit. Touch or kiss the stone if you can; otherwise raise your right hand towards it.
Sahih al-Bukhari 1613 (takbir); al-Bayhaqi 5/79
“O Allah, I begin this Tawaf seeking Your mercy, forgiveness and acceptance.”
There is no fixed dua for each circuit. Speak to Allah in your own language.
Rabbanā ātinā fid-dunyā ḥasanah, wa fil-ākhirati ḥasanah, wa qinā 'adhāban-nār.
Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
On each circuit, along the stretch between the two corners.
Quran 2:201; Sunan Abi Dawud 1892
Wattakhidhū min maqāmi Ibrāhīma muṣallā.
And take the standing place of Ibrahim as a place of prayer.
After the seventh circuit, before praying two rakʿahs behind the Maqam, or anywhere in the mosque if crowded.
Quran 2:125; Sahih Muslim 1218
Allāhumma innī as'aluka 'ilman nāfi'an, wa rizqan wāsi'an, wa shifā'an min kulli dā'.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, abundant provision and a cure for every illness.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Zamzam is for whatever it is drunk for." Ask for what you need.
Sunan Ibn Majah 3062 (hadith); the dua is reported from Ibn ʿAbbas (al-Daraqutni)
Sa'i
Innaṣ-Ṣafā wal-Marwata min sha'ā'irillāh.
Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah.
Once, as you approach Safa at the very start of Saʿi.
Quran 2:158; Sahih Muslim 1218
Allāhu akbar (×3). Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamd, wa huwa 'alā kulli shay'in qadīr. Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdah, anjaza wa'dah, wa naṣara 'abdah, wa hazamal-aḥzāba waḥdah.
Allah is the Greatest. There is no god but Allah alone, without partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is able to do all things. There is no god but Allah alone. He fulfilled His promise, supported His servant, and defeated the confederates alone.
Face the Kaaba, raise your hands, and say this three times with your own duas in between. Repeat on Marwah.
Sahih Muslim 1218
“O Allah, accept my Saʿi and forgive my sins.”
At Marwah, after the seventh length.
Completion
“O Allah, accept this Umrah from me, forgive my sins, and grant me the reward You have promised Your righteous servants.”
After shaving or shortening the hair.
